Introduction

The wind turbines are designed following IEC 61400-1 Ed.3 standard at an extreme wind speed. Thus it is vital important to compare the extreme wind speed on site to this design value. For our APAC team in Shanghai we are looking for an intern to help on developing an in-house tool to estimate tropical cyclone risks in terms of extreme wind speed.

Responsibility

1. Following latest research on the extreme wind speed estimate in tropical cyclone (typhoon, cyclone, hurricane) regions;

2. Analyze the wind profile during the tropical cyclone event using Holland model based tropical cyclone best track data database;

3. Create an Excel tool to calculate the extreme wind speed and document all the work and procedures.

Requirement

1. Background in meteorology, especially for tropical cyclone climate, and preferably experienced in research work in this area;

2. Strong skills in statistics and mathematics, and in coding, preferred to be in Excel VBA;

3. Preferred to be able to communicate in English, but not a must
